Appointments

There are different ways to get medical help from a clinician, depending on your needs and preferences.

Please fill out our e-consult and a clinician will review your information and decide the best way to help you. A face-to-face appointment may not always be necessary. Other clinicians such as Advanced Nurse Practitioners may also deal with issues for which patients may previously have seen Doctors.

Online consultations

You can contact our clinical team through eConsult, our online consultation system, from any internet-connected device. You can check your symptoms, get self-help advice or send a message directly to the practice team. Messages will be checked during work hours, and we will get back to you within 2 working days.

Contact us through eConsult.

A clinician may invite you to book an appointment or suggest another form of treatment. Often, our team can resolve common patient issues without you needing to visit the surgery.

eConsult is quick, secure and easy to use. Many patients enjoy the instant access, flexibility and quick resolutions it offers.

Requesting an appointment in person or over the phone

From the 2nd February 2026 we are moving to a full online request system for GP appointments and administrative queries. We are still booking nurse appointments over the phone, and ask that you continue to request medication through our normal channels.

Please note we will no longer be letting patients book appointments at the front desk to ensure privacy.

Urgent Appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow please follow the e-consult route and a clinician will review your medical needs.

Routine Appointments

For routine appointments in the next 10 days, please follow the e-consult route and a clinician will review your medical needs.

Home Visits

If you are housebound, a home visit may be possible.

Please contact us between 8.30 am and 11.30 am on 0191 2260226.

Home visits are not guaranteed, and decisions will be based on clinical need and capacity.

Cancelling Appointments

If you know you won’t be able to attend a scheduled appointment or no longer need the one you have booked, please make every effort to let us know.

Please contact us on 0191 226 0226 or at nencicb-ng.prospectadmin@nhs.net. We are open Monday, Wednesday 8:30am - 8pm Tuesday, Thursday Friday 8:30am - 6:30pm.

You may also be able to amend or cancel an appointment using the NHS App or through SystmOnline, if you are signed up for those services.

By cancelling your unneeded appointment, we can offer the slot to another patient who needs it.

Book online with SystmOnline or through the NHS App

Available appointments can also be viewed, booked and amended or cancelled using either SystmOnline or the NHS App.

From the 2nd February 2026 we are moving to a Total Triage model.

Total triage is how we manage appointments at our practice.
You will fill out a e-consult rather than calling the surgery and tell us about your problem.

Ideally, patients will submit their own request however we appreciate that this may not be possible for some patients. If you are unable to use or access the online form then please contact the surgery by telephone and we will complete the request for you, which will be added to the triage list to be reviewed by the GP.

A clinician will review your information and decide the best way to help you, which may be advice, a phone call, or an appointment.

We will have three types of appointments:

• Same day – for emergencies (A member of staff will contact you to book the appointment)
• Within 5 days – for patients that need to see or speak to a healthcare professional soon, but not urgently.
• Within 10 days – for routine appointments.

The main purpose of total triage is to make sure you receive high-quality care by getting the right advice or appointment for your needs as quickly as possible.

Please ensure you have completed the e-consult in full with as much information as possible.
